The Law on social inclusion of disabled people entered into force. It was announced in a press conference by Valentina Buliga, the Minister of Labour, Social and Family Protection. Some law provisions are to be implemented gradually.<\/p>\n

“For the successful implementation of social inclusion measures for disabled people, the involvement of all central and local public authorities, civil society and technical assistance of donors are necessary”, notes the press release issued by the Ministry of Labour.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Let’s start at least to be more tolerant and call them properly – people with disabilities, which unfortunately is not respected even by nongovernmental organizations working in the field. Every citizen can change for the better the life of a disabled person by respecting his\/her rights, options, views, wishes and believes and by considering him\/her equal in rights, without discrimination”, encourages the Ministry of Labour, Social and Family Protection.<\/span><\/p>\n

“In order to achieve all objectives, we call on the society and every citizen to help and support the inclusion, the social integration of people with disabilities”, accentuated Valentina Buliga.<\/span><\/p>\n

The new law brings under regulation the rights of those 179815 people with disabilities (out of which 14034 are children) for their social inclusion, ensuring the possibility of their participation without discrimination at the same level with other members of society, and having as basis the observance of fundamental rights and freedoms of people.<\/span><\/p>\n

The law was drafted in the framework of implementing the Action Plan of the Strategy of social inclusion of people with disabilities (2010-2013) and adjusting the national legislation to EU standards and provisions of UN Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities.
