The United States of America has sent 38 new Peace Corps volunteers to the Republic of Moldova. They began training on June 7 and became business and community development advisors throughout Moldova. The American volunteers are learning Romanian and Russian. US Ambassador William Moser officiated the Swearing-in on Friday.<\/p>\n

“Peace Corps currently has 63 volunteers serving in Moldova, working in four projects: business development, community and organizational development, English education, and health education,” the US Embassy reported in a press release.<\/p>\n

Peace Corps will train a total of 65 volunteers for service in Moldova this year.<\/p>\n

The Peace Corps program was established in 1960 as an initiative of then Senator John F. Kennedy who invited the students to serve their country in the cause of peace by going abroad and improving the quality of life of the people. More than 200.000 Americans have served in 139 countries since the program has started.
