The relatives of police officer Alexandru Ursu, illegally imprisoned in Moldova’s separatist region of Transnistria, have rallied today in from on the Government demanding the dismission of the man. The man’s father and wife, as well as other people carried placards with messages: “SOS! A police officer imprisoned in Tiraspol!” “We demand responsibility from the Government!”<\/p>\n

After their protest, the people tried to reach Eugen Carpov who is Moldova’s Vice Premier for Reintegration. The official told Mr. Ursu’s relatives that his case is being discussed with the administration from Tiraspol.<\/p>\n

“Both George Balan and Mr. Carpov assured us that everything will be ok. They told us they are about to send a letter to Nina Stansky – the so-called foreign minister of Transnistria, to jointly solve the case of my son,” Timofei Ursu, the father of the imprisoned man told Moldova.ORG.<\/p>\n

Alexandru Ursu is an officer of the Moldovan Ministry of Interior who was arrested in July 2009 by the illegitimate police officers in Bender town, Transnistria. A self-proclaimed court from the separatist region sentenced him to 15 years in prison.<\/p>\n

According to Promo-LEX, Mr. Ursu is detained in a cell with HIV\/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Hepatitis carriers. The man suffered a stroke in January this year and the illness may return because of the precarious detention conditions.
