Norway has removed the working restrictions for Romanian citizens, through a decision taken by the Norwegian Parliament on June 15, 2012, the Norwegian Embassy to Bucharest informed today in a press release.<\/p>\n

“This means that workers from Romania will have the same access to the Norwegian labor market as citizens from the other EEA states,” the statement shows.<\/p>\n

European Economic Area (EEA) is an agreement established in 1994 between the European Union and three non-EU countries: Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.<\/p>\n

Until recently, all the Romanians were subject to a working permit in order to be eligible to work in Norway.<\/p>\n

According to the Embassy, restrictions applied to some countries did not seem to have restrained the Norwegian employers to hire the manpower they needed. Moreover, they have contributed to secure their employees well-regulated payment and contracts.<\/p>\n

“The Norwegian Government believes that the elimination of these restrictions will not produce perturbation on the Norwegian labor market which is for the moment stable and at a low unemployment rate. Norwegian authorities expect that Romanian citizens will establish the same working relations in Norway as other workers from Central and Eastern European EU-countries,” the press release informs.<\/p>\n

Nine EU member states still keep work restrictions for Romanians on their labor market. They will have to be removed by the end of 2013 in all the European countries.
