Moldova is marking “National Flag’ Day.” A huge tricolor has been installed in front of the headquarters of the Moldovan Government. The flag is 7 meters long and 3.5 meters in width. It has been established at 34 meters altitude.<\/p>\n

The colors of the flag, blue, yellow and red, are meant to represent the clean and peaceful country (blue), the wheat fields (yellow), the blood lost by the ancestors while defending the country (red).<\/p>\n

On April 23, 2010, the Parliament called April 27 as the ‘National Flag’ Day.<\/p>\n

A veteran of the War on Nistru, present at the inauguration said the event is welcomed.<\/p>\n

“For us, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who fought with the weapons in their hands to defend the territorial integrity of the country, today’s event is welcomed. For us the national flag is not just a symbol, but it is also a sacred thing,” said Oleg Triboi.<\/p>\n

Mircea Snegur, Moldova’s first President after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, said that he is happy to see the peoples’ voices heard.<\/p>\n

“Towering was the initiative and the will of the peoples, returning to memories and customs,” said the former President.<\/p>\n

The National Flag, which is considered a state symbol, turns 22 years today. It has been officially named the national flag on April 27, 1990.
