The Moldovan society is divided when it comes to friend-countries. According to a recent survey of Geopol Institute, one third of the questioned Moldovans said that their country should follow its path in the direction of Russia and the CIS zone, while another third considers that Moldova should angle towards the European Union, Radio Chisinau informs.<\/p>\n

According to the statistics, over 55% of people think that Russian Federation is the most important partner of the Republic of Moldova, followed by Romania with 14.5%. The chief executive of the Institute, Lucian Dumitrescu said that the citizens of Moldova are not very interested in the social-political events from Romania. The survey shows that 88% of the respondents see the relations development with Russia as one bringing advantages for Moldova. They also think that in case of a natural disaster, Russia is more likely to give support to Moldova, followed by their neighbors Romania and Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Being asked to assess the relations with some countries, the people answered that Moldova’s relationship with Russia is very good (almost 79%), followed by the European Union (77.6%), the USA (74.3%) and Romania (71.3%). 46.1% of the respondents said that the relation with Romania should be closer, while 56.9% said that Moldova should have closer relations with the United States of America.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
