The Ministry of Regional Development and Construction and the Peace Corps in Moldova signed a new memorandum of understanding to extend Peace Corps support for community and organizational development for another five years.<\/p>\n

According to a press release, the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova William Moser thanked the Ministry for partnering with Peace Corps and praised the work of the 256 Peace Corps Volunteers who have worked in Peace Corps’ Community and Organizational Development Project in Moldova from 1997 until now.<\/p>\n

“Through the Peace Corps, the United States government provides one of its most precious resources, the energy, creativity and optimism of the people of the United States of America,” said the U.S. Ambassador at an official event.<\/p>\n

The memorandum is intended to be developed from 2012 to 2017. During this period, Peace Corps will send over 90 Volunteers during the life of the agreement. The Peace Corps Volunteers which come as a result of this agreement will contribute to the community development through working with local and regional government offices and support NGOs. They are also expected to provide services to youth and vulnerable populations throughout Moldova.<\/p>\n
