By Valeriu Gonta \/ Chisinau \/ Moldova.org \/ — Transparency International – Moldova issued yesterday, January 11, the Report regarding the monitoring of the anti-corruption policies for 2011. The purpose of the research was to analyze the central public authorities’ performance in terms of implementation of the anti-corruption policies.<\/p>\n

The report shows that although there is a legal framework for prevention and fight against corruption in Moldova, the mechanism is non-operational due to the lack of adjustment with the international standards in the field. Another result is that there isn’t an efficient punishment mechanism for those who neglect the implementation of the anti-corruption policies.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the quality of the hot lines in Moldova isn’t the way it is supposed to be. The investigators have learnt that only two hot lines are fully functional. Another problem is the fact that most of the public officers haven’t declared their personal interests statements.<\/p>\n

“There are deficiencies in terms of legislation, especially the concepts of conflict interest and personal interest are unclear; there is a lack of an efficient legislation implementation; there aren’t significant sanctions for not declaring the personal interests,” shows the report.<\/p>\n

In addition, the report includes recommendations which have already been presented to the Government and Parliament of the Republic of Moldova to be considered while issuing the Action Plan for the Implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy for 2012.
