Israelite archaeologists that work intensively at the excavations of this site discovered several rooms hollowed in the rock, and in one of these rooms there have been found some grooves in the form of "V", utterly mysterious.
\nResearchers that have discovered the mysterious signs can only to say their opinion of what might signify these grooves.<\/p>\n

Three such grooves are hollowed out in the limestone floor of one of the rooms, with a depth of about 5 cm and a length of 50 cm. Archaeologists claims that they have been hollowed out since 2,800 years ago.<\/p>\n

Some of the suppositions verbalized by researchers would be that these grooves housed some wood structures with unknown destination, and which have not been kept and another would be that these grooves in the form of "V" were some decorative or ceremonial function.<\/p>\n

Fragments of ceramic pottery found inside the room shows that it was used since the Kingdom of Judea, but it is unknown if it was built then or if it is older, dating from the time of Canaanians.<\/p>\n

The construction has straight walls, floors leveled carefully, it is built with great skill and attention and in addition it is situated in the proximity of a very important place: the only natural source of water to the city – the spring Gihon. All these features suggest that it was a building with a big meaning – but that would have been it, remains a mystery.<\/p>\n

The mysterious grooves in the form of "V" have given to archeologists big hassle and they decided to publish photos with this discovery on Facebook to find out public opinion about their destination. The most of these suppositions of the public could be:
\n• grooves designed to support the wooden panels (with a function that still remains to be unexplained);
\n• grooves for casting molten metal;
\n• characters of an ancient Hebrew or Egyptian writings;
\n• symbolic signs for water (since the building was near the city’s only source).<\/p>\n
