By Diana Ungureanu\/ Chisinau\/ Moldova.ORG\/ — For the Romans, namely of the Roman world was in Dacia, in the city of Porolissum, in the today’s locality Mir\u015fid, S\u0103laj County.<\/p>\n

On the Northwest line of the Roman Dacia, there is one of the most important civil and military settlements of this region, the Roman city Porolissum. Founded since the times of the Emperor Trajan reign, the settlement was used as a strategic point in the defence at the border, connecting point of commercial roads and exchange point with tribes across the border. Being situated in a strategic area, in the times of the Emperor Septimius Severus, it is awarded with the title of Municipium and is called "res publica municipalities Septimii Porolissensium". In the year 213, the city receives the visit of the Emperor Caracalla, an occasion to be repaired the road linking Porolissum and Napoca.<\/p>\n

As a result of a long time research over the ruins of the Roman of Porolissum, there have been identified a number of specific elements and construction of a Roman castrum, such as: the walls of the fortification, headquarters building, a hospital, workshops for done and repaired guns and armor, warehouses, water tank and several military barracks.
\nPorolissum was an important civil center of the era, being represented by civilian settlements. There were several civilian dwellings, a wall, a fountain and several pottery workshops and burnt bricks. These workshops indicate a very intense pottery activity and the archaeological material from here, very rich and interesting, indicates the economic strength of the Centre of potters.<\/p>\n

Guests have access to the fort through the Porta Praetoria, rebuilt faithfully, but that was not the main gate, but one of the secondary. There are well preserved ruins of the other three gates (Principalis Dextra, Principalis Sinistra and Decumana) and headquarters building (Principia).<\/p>\n

The archaeological site at Porolissum is well groomed and everywhere you can see signs of iron which is due to the origin of the ruins and reconstruct their 3D format.<\/p>\n

Sense, which it is transmitted by such ruins of thousands of years old, is extraordinary and it deserves to be visited only, unless we take into account the beauty of the landscapes in which is situated the city.
