By Diana Ungureanu\/ Chisinau\/ Moldova.ORG\/ — Some of the wildest mountain zones of Romania are the lands where flows Lotru River, in the Lotru Valley.<\/p>\n

Lotru Valley is located in Vâlcea County and represents the flowing in the Valley of Lotru River among rocks of mountains that are passed on his way to the great Olt.<\/p>\n

This is also the place where the stout and handsome Lotru flees and hurries to meet with his lover, Lot\u0103ri\u0163a (Lot\u0103ri\u0163a River), and from love of the two were born some of the most phenomenal landscapes of Romania, with rocks of various sizes and formations, crystalline shale and wilderness. Lotru merged forever with his splendid bride and remain forever to reap the eye of the beholder.<\/p>\n

The Lotru River is a tributary of the Olt River, and has its source in the heart of the mountains. The Lotru has collected its springs from the peaks of the Iezer, Mohor and Seba, from clear and cold lakes (Lake Iezer and C\u0103lcescu, Vidra and Lotru) and then heading towards the valley among the blocks of stone, creates waterfalls that swish (Devils Falls below the Stone coast).<\/p>\n

Whirling waters of Lotru falls in line with the wildness of landscapes it pervades. On the way or among rocks, on the foothills of Goata and Streaja Mountains, together with the sources (streams H\u0103ne\u015f and Balindru, it forms real "cataracts". A cataract is a rocky threshold beyond which the water "encouraged" by a relatively steep slope, falls squally and with noise, creating small pits or troughs in the riverbed. Many of the mountain rivers form such cataracts, but those crested by Lotru are the most spectacular.<\/p>\n

The desperate fight pursued by thousands and millions of years by waters and rocks gives thrills and spectacular landscapes with steep ups and downs.
