By Diana Ungureanu\/ Chisinau \/ Moldova.ORG\/ — Today we will move the attention to town from Olt County, the town Vadastra for the mere fact that arriving on this place, you can easily travel through time, and not anywhere, but in the far Neolithic.<\/p>\n

About 6000-7000 years ago, on the territory of the today town Vadastra is developed a prosperous culture, named like the town where it was discovered, Vadastra culture.<\/p>\n

Vadastra culture is a part of the group of cultures with black pottery, whose ornaments, realized firstly by fine grooves, then are executed by the technique of deep cutting, with spiral-meandered motifs admirably drawn with other geometrical motifs. There prevail cuttings and imprinting with white and red. These ornaments constitute ones of the most remarkable artistic achievements of ceramics of all the Neo-Eneolithic Era. The potters of Vadastra culture left the most perfect specimens of pottery massively cut and imprinted with white substance.<\/p>\n

The unique motifs of Vadastra ceramics have attracted many European researchers who have studied not only the objects and dishes, but also their exceptional technique for those times, so that it was taken in the vision the fact that the potter wheel was not yet invented.<\/p>\n

Today in the town Vadastra there is in deploy a unique experimental project for Romania, which implies the production of Neolithic pottery, by the Neolithic techniques, in the XXI century. Thus, since 2000 until today, a “world-wide selection” of scientists tries to rediscover the techniques of pottery and ceramics firing practiced about 7000 years ago.<\/p>\n

Thus, the town Vadastra has the premises to become an area where to practice the participative tourism, developed on a worldwide level. The sensorial perception helps to understand the history. To accustom the locals once again with their own culture, at the Cultural Home of Vadastra (whose front side was adorned with a monumental fresco, decorated with motifs of local ceramics) was set up am museum where children are stimulated to touch the exhibits – the sensorial perception being an important tool for overview and understanding the past.<\/p>\n

The past helps to live the present and to create a future.
