By Diana Ungureanu\/ Chisinau \/ Moldova.ORG\/ — “With a height of forty feet, located on a round foundation, suitable cut, many travelers, like me, at the first pass will take far as a bold building, that remained from ancient times, but when you look at its location on the plain, more than 500 steps far of any height, when you have touched with your hand the flint from an entire, its cracks where the time threw a kind of yellowish moss, you become quiet and small in front of the grand giant; it seems that you have to do with one of the rocks dropped from the hands of weird Titans”, Alecu Russo.<\/p>\n

In the region Neamt, in Romania, in the basin of the storage lake Spring of Mountain “grows” a rock with a height of 23 m. It is a mysterious, lonely stone that with its shape and placing raises people’s imagination.<\/p>\n

The most common myths tell that the Devil is that who dropped the rock, which was broken from the massif Ceahlau. Another legend speaks about an ogre who lived on Ceahlau and in a fight with locals he would had broken a piece of the mountain that he would had wanted to throw over the villagers, but the good spirit of the Ceahlau prevented this, cutting ogre’s hands with a sword, so the stone fell out of the village.<\/p>\n

Locals think about this stone that it would be accursed, because over the years lots of people were thrown or fell from its height. As proof, there are iron crosses on the top and around the rock.<\/p>\n

The most time of the year, it is surrounded by the lake waters. At a more detailed analysis of the composition of rock, it was discovered that its composition is enriched with a Sarmatian fossil fauna.<\/p>\n

Initially, the rock was called Devil’s Rock, nowadays name being given due the fact that on the top has risen a linden tree. Linden Rock was declared a natural monument in 1951. You may have access to the rock on the road Piatra Neamt – Bicaz – Borsec.<\/p>\n

This magnificent freak of nature can be easily admired from the viaduct which crosses the river Bicaz.<\/p>\n

Even you are a casual traveler in this zone, don’t hesitate to make a photo with this puzzling giant.<\/p>\n

The distance from Chisinau to Linden Rock is 300 km.
