\nBetween the Romanian towns Ramnicu Valcea and Targu-Jiu, in the Costesti region, nature created one of the most bizarre and at the same time surprising stone sculptures.<\/p>\n

They are like some tubers, of sizes of millimeters or like formations that reach up to 9-10 m, and it is said that these stones could be a form of transition from mineral structure to a vegetal structure. Why they think so? Because, according to locals, after rain stones begin to grow.<\/p>\n

Geologists say that these stones are nothing more than a conglomeration of minerals welded together by carbonate cement and their growth is unrealistic, these mysterious stones, named troves, is more probably to reduce their dimensions due to the natural processes of erosion.<\/p>\n

Contrary to the words of the scientists, locals say that on the “back” of the largest stones grow new “seedlings” with an identical form of their prehistoric “parents”. If these stones were cut, inside it would be with circular sections like a tree trunk, indicating the growth.<\/p>\n

The farmers decorate their gardens with these stones, although they admit that they don’t feel well near them.
\nThey are easy recognizable even by strangers, but they are different as shapes and sizes. All of them have two basic forms: spherical and ellipsoidal.<\/p>\n

The most splendid stones found in Costesti consist of two and more spheres. Such amazing stones were found in South Africa, Australia, China, Argentina, USA, Egypt (with the largest stones – about 9 m) etc.
\nIn Costesti there is a museum of these stones, called “Museum of Troves”, on an area of 1,1 ha.<\/p>\n

It’s amazing, but such stones exist, so go to see them.<\/p>\n

The distance from Chisinau to Costesti (Romania) is 664 km.
