By Diana Ungureanu\/ Chisinau \/ Moldova.ORG\/ — On the edge of a cliff, between mountains Bugeci and King’s Stone, there is located since many centuries ago the great castle, with a fame that passed all the boundaries. The legendary castle goes through history and remains unshaken over the years to raise and amaze the visitors. A too beautiful tourist attraction, that became a real business for the dwellers from Bran, causes shivers of fear and satisfaction in the same time.<\/p>\n

The castle construction began in 1378, when were built the outside towers. Over the years, the castle undergone many changes and improvements, was owned by several kings of several nationalities, and finally today is owned by Dominic von Habsburg, after it was returned by Romanian state on June 1, 2009.<\/p>\n

It is the only monument from the Romanian territory that attracts hundreds of thousands of tourists every year. And all these things are conditioned by a legend, created by the American writer Bram Stoker, who published in London, in 1897, a book “Dracula, the Vampire from Transylvania”.<\/p>\n

The author didn’t mention an exact location where Dracula would have to live, but it is supposed to be the Bran Castle. The legend of Dracula was closely related of the life of the Romanian prince Vlad Tepes, because he was a tyrannical leader and impaled everyone who didn’t respect the law.<\/p>\n

Documents that attest the fact that Vlad Tepes would have any connection with Bran Castle were not found, however the legend was rooted so deeply in the walls of this castle, that today we cannot talk about the Bran Castle without mentioning about Dracula.<\/p>\n

Experts have shown that the legend remains just legend, not more, but still one in which many people still believe, although it was more than a hundred years since the myth appeared. The most requested destination of American and British tourists on Halloween remains to be Bran Castle.<\/p>\n

Accommodation, for those who are interested, is the resort Bran, but for those who want to stop for a night in the castle, the current owners set up a luxury room in the Round Tower.<\/p>\n
