The holidays celebrated in Moldavian villages are actually the soul of those villages, the spiritual mater with which they live. Such an event is a cause for celebration for locals in the village, but also a magnet to attract the tourists to visit it for.
\nSuch an opportunity gives us the village Palanca, from Calarasi, which organizes every year the feast of the “first sheaf of wheat”.<\/p>\n

Moldova a predominant agrarian country, on its territory they held a lot of celebrations, related of the stages of harvesting crops. The Festival of “First Bundle of Wheat” is a demonstration of this, being organized when the harvest of first wheat ends, in such a way emphasizing the ending of a stage and the beginning of another one. The festival takes place according to a ritual. The just mowed wheat is taken together in bundles, which are guarded with a great sanctity. The local craftsmen present at this event their handmade handicrafts and the housewives from the village prepare culinary delights for visitors.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the organization of these events is the perpetuation of customs and traditions and the involvement of younger generations. A more aggressive media of such the events would attract also the foreign tourists to visit this place and that fact would lead to the development of rural tourism.<\/p>\n

Becoming a habit, the festival “First Bundle of Wheat” from Palanca was at its fifth edition in 2011.
\nThis event is a source of relaxation, joy and a method to escape from daily routine both for locals and for visitors. The restful rural atmosphere banishes any stress and the problems in such an environment are solved by themselves, finally disappearing.<\/p>\n

The distance from Chisinau to Palanca is about 60 km.
