But who is this Mocanitsa, you will ask? The Mocanitsa is a vintage steam train, which is used to transport wood, but which in recent years, reverted to its primary purpose, to transport tourists.<\/p>\n

Vaser Valley, home of the Mocanitsa, spots one of the wildest and most beautiful landscapes in Romania. The journey begins in Viseu de Sus (http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Viseu_de_Sus ) and at a distance of 21 km, until Platin, you can see narrow passages, lisping valleys overlaid with rocks, colorful forests and three tunnels. Vaser Valley is likened to a canyon where steep cliffs alternate with dense forests, beautiful meadows and cool springs.<\/p>\n

In the morning the train ready for the trip awaits its passengers. The travel with the Mocanitsa is a real journey through time. Once having departed, forget about modern times and all that is related to that word, including your mobile phone which will have no signal. The smell of wood logs, the ongoing sound of the locomotive, the loud murmur of the river Vaser and the rustle of the forest will beam you back a few decades ago.<\/p>\n

The trip is long, with numerous halts. On the way up, the train goes with empty wagons, only to return having them crammed with logs. The train stops to pick up locals or to refill its water supplies. It can jump out of the rails, but at a speed of 10 km \/ h this is not dangerous. After having been put back on track, it continues puffing through the forest.<\/p>\n

The trip through Vaser Valley as a one-day journey by train or combined with hiking and camping, is a true adventure. In the midst of dark forests or grasslands invaded by the sun, a fascinating world reveals itself, a quite different world. Go and see it. You will love it.<\/p>\n
