In the XV century, massive extraction of salt from the mine began, as being one of the most important sources of salt in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.<br \/>\nThe mine had gone through a period of decline from the late nineteenth century, as in 1932 it was permanently closed, due to its inefficiency.
