In 2010, over 43.63 thousand persons died in Moldova, which is over 1.49 thousand (up 3.5%) persons more than in 2009. The data has been provided by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).<\/p>\n

According to statistics, the death rate went up to 12.3 from 11.8 persons per 1 thousand residents. At the same time, its main reasons remain invariable – blood circulation diseases (56.2%), tumors (13.1%), gastrointestinal tract (10%), accidents, poisoning and injuries (8.5%), and respiratory diseases (5.6%).<\/p>\n

Among men, the level of deaths caused by traffic accidents, poisoning and injuries is 3.5 times higher than among women. Women outstrip men by 1.2 times in the rate of deaths caused by blood circulation system diseases.<\/p>\n

In the geographical view, in 2010, most deaths occurred in the raions of Donduseni, Soldanesti, Edinet and Riscani. In conformity with the number of deaths caused by tumors, the top ranked the following raions – Drochia, Balti, Edinet and Riscani. Most deceases due to accidents, poisoning and injuries occurred in Hincesti, Soldanesti, Cimislia and Leova.<\/p>\n

The highest death rate is in Donduseni – 1.88 thousand persons per 100 thousand citizens, in Soldanesti (1.657 thousand), and Riscani (1.617 thousand). The safest condition is in Chisinau and its suburb, where the death rate, according to statistics, is 814.6 per 100 thousand persons.<\/p>\n

The death rate outstrips the birth rate, which reached 11.4 children per 1 thousand of residents in 2010. In 2010, over 40.46 thousand children were born, which is 341 (0.8%) less than one year ago. Thus, 22.4 of newborn children were born out of wedlock.<\/p>\n
