The action group "De\u015fteptarea" in English “The Awakening”, has informed that on October 13, will continue the campaign called “We speak Romanian”. The campaign consists of sharing free tricolor ribbons with the colors of the Romanian and Moldavian flags in Chi\u015finau and other cities in Moldova.<\/p>\n

The campaign is organized as an official act of protest to the fact that article 13 of the Constitution of Moldova stipulates that the official state language is the “Moldovian”. Also the campaign aims to promote in the society and the political parties the idea of changing the article 13 of the Constitution, and especially the name of the language “Moldavian” to “Romanian”.<\/p>\n

Officially no “Moldavian” language exists, and no such language is recognized by the International scientific community. The official position of the Science Academy of Moldova is that the “Moldavian” language is “de facto” the Romanian language, the official scientific name of the language used in the Academy scientific works is “Romanian”. Also the Declaration of Independence of Moldova signed in 1990, mentions that the official language of Moldova is “Romanian”. Instead the Constitution adopted by pro-Russian political forces in 1994, declares in article 13 the official language “Moldavian”. This fact was used by the Communist party to divide artificially the society of Moldova in Moldavians and Romanians, mainly in political purposes, by the principle “divide and conquer”.<\/p>\n

In the Soviet Union the “Moldavian” demonym and ethnic group were invented as a pretext for the legalization and consolidation of the consequences of the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, between Hitler’s Germany and Stalinist USSR, which divided Romania and offered the actual territory of the Republic of Moldova to the ex-USSR. The Action organized by the Action Group "De\u015fteptarea" started at 13th of September this year and will last a year till the 13th of September 2011.
