Prime Minister Vlad Filat today participated in the opening of sites for the construction of houses for flood victims from the villages of Nemteni and Cotul Morii, Hincesti district, the government’s communications and press relations department has said.<\/p>\n

The prime minister was accompanied by Construction and Regional Development Minister Marcel Raducan, Interior Minister Victor Catan, Deputy State Minister Anatol Onceanu and the head of the Hincesti district, Anatolie Chetraru.<\/p>\n

In Nemteni, the prime minister participated in the official opening of a construction site for 40 houses, the building of which is financed by the foundation Concordia. Ninety houses are to be constructed for flood victims from Nemteni in all. The head of the construction site, Mihail Peatihacinii, said that several tens of 4-5-member teams will work to construct the houses. He stressed that 90 per cent of the constructors were local residents who had undergone special courses.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Vlad Filat thanked the founder of Concordia, pastor Georg Sporschill, for having involved to help solve the issue of dwellings for flood victims, emphasizing the importance of this friendly help for Moldova.<\/p>\n

Georg Sporschill praised the government’s attitude towards the problems faced by flood victims and the prompt reaction of the cabinet, which fully involved to mitigate the floods’ consequences. He said that Moldova has true friends in Austria. He said that, at the request of Prime Minister Vlad Filat, the Concordia foundation ruled to additionally finance the construction of another 40 houses for flood victims.<\/p>\n

Vlad Filat said that a common achievement of all those who involved in the alleviation of the floods’ consequences was that people re-gained confidence in their own forces and the government’s ability to help them.<\/p>\n

"We proved that we can be united, and we can cope together with the challenges that we face," the prime minister said.<\/p>\n

The prime minister discussed with local residents, as well as workers involved in construction works. He urged them to work qualitatively and meet the deadlines, so that the flood victims have houses before the cold season.<\/p>\n

The workers assured the prime minister that they would meet the established deadline and would also ensure the constructions’ quality.<\/p>\n

The prime minister was informed about preparation works at the construction site where the Cotul Morii village would be built. Deputy Construction and Regional Development Minister Anatolie Zolotcov said that roads had been repaired, the site for the construction of houses and the teams of constructors had been distributed.<\/p>\n

The prime minister spoke to beneficiaries of the dwellings, and answered their questions. The people showed interest in the infrastructure of the future village, including the placement of social facilities, inheritors’ possibility to benefit from houses, connection to gas pipeline and aqueduct. Vlad Filat said that the village would be supplied with gas, connected to aqueduct, would have a kindergarten, school and other social facilities.<\/p>\n

"Everything on which we have earlier agreed remains in force. You have noting to be worried about – the construction works will be completed in the established period," the prime minister said.<\/p>\n

On the construction site, the prime minister met representatives of construction companies that would build the houses. Construction and Regional Development Minister Marcel Raducan said that, while selecting the companies, the ministry took into account the turnover, experience and staff’s skills. He specified that these were serious companies and would surely cope with their tasks.<\/p>\n

The prime minister participated in the symbolic placement of the foundation stone of a future house. He wished the workers every success and zeal.<\/p>\n

Also, Vlad Filat visited a tent town where the workers who would build the houses would be accommodated. The prime minister was informed that, at the first stage, conditions had been created to accommodate 400 people. They will be provided with food, hygiene services and other needs.<\/p>\n
