The flood danger is maintained, as a protection dam was broken near the village of Gotesti, Cantemir district, southern Moldova, the government’s press service has said.<\/p>\n

The latest information shows that 49 houses run the risk of being flooded in the Ghioltosu village.<\/p>\n

The leader of a working group for the prevention and abolishing the consequences of the natural calamities and giving the necessary assistance to the victims, State Minister Victor Bodiu has said that, presently, the people living in the risk zone are being evacuated, with almost half of them having been moved out. Also, works continue to consolidate a protection dam near the railway in the vicinity of the concerned settlement.<\/p>\n

Victor Bodiu said that law-enforcement forces are being deployed in the region, and the situation is under control. The minister denied rumours on alleged human victims in the wake of the floods.<\/p>\n

A case of drowning was recorded in the Tiganca village, Cantemir district, but is has no connection with the floods. A citizen, Galina Gandrabura, 1961, drowned in a water sewer near this village while trying to get out the poultry from a swamp.<\/p>\n

The above case investigated by competent bodies, who confirmed that it is not related to floods.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
