The Moldovan-flagged cargo ship Orcun C wrecked and split in half after bumping into rocks in Bosphorus Strait in the night from 18 to 19 January.<\/p>\n

According to a communiqué by the Transport and Road Infrastructure Ministry, the ship departed from Ukraine and was heading to the Turkish port of Kelios. The 21 crew members, of whom 17 Turkish and four Georgian nationals, have been rescued.<\/p>\n

The cargo ship, owned by the Panama-based company CSG SHIPPING INC, was reported to be empty having aboard 70 tons of diesel oil that are expected to be evacuated by emergency services. No oil leakage has been reported.<\/p>\n

The Giurgiulesti port in Moldova has initiated an investigation into the case and deployed specialists on the scene.<\/p>\n

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the naval transport service of the Transport and Road Infrastructure Ministry, Igor Zaharia, said that Moldova has 435 ships sailing under its flag, which brought benefits worth over 10 million dollars over the past two years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
