In the school year 2008-2009, 114,900 students were trained in the educational network, 64,6% of whom studied full-time and 35.4% were part-time students.<\/p>\n

The statistics data of the National Statistics Bureau (BNS) show that since the beginning of the school year, 93,100 students were studying in the state institutions (81.0% of the total number) or by 8,700 less against the former school year. At the same time, the private institutions were accomodating 21,800 students (19,0 of the total number), or by 600 students more against the last year.<\/p>\n

Official data show that most of the students study on contract basis (they pay for their studies) – 85,400 students, which means 74.4% of the total number of students. In the state institutions, 29,400 students were financed by the state budget, this number having increased against the school year 2007\/08 by 9.7%.<\/p>\n

At the same time, 82.2% of the total number of students were enrolled in higher education (Cycle I), 4,6% – in Master’s studies (Cycle II), 0.9% – in integrated higher education. The students’ distribution by age reflects a greater quota of the students of 20 and 21 years old.<\/p>\n

During the school year 2008\/2009, 5,200 people were registered for the Master’s studies. The students’ distribution by areas shows the fact that most of the students were enlisted in the social, economic sciences and law (68.7%).<\/p>\n

Last year, 29,600 students graduated from the institutions of higher education, by 1.5 fold more against the former year. This increase is due to Cycle I in higher studies.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the economic specialties were finished by 29.4% of the graduates, law – 20.6%, philology – 7.5%, computer science – 3.3% and teaching – 3.0%.<\/p>\n
