Representatives of the Vier Pfoten International Austrian Fund began the implementation of their two-month program on the sterilization of stray dogs in Chisinau. The executor undertakes all the expenses.<\/p>\n

Program Director of the Fund Anca Tomescu said at a news conference on Wednesday that on the first day, when the program was launched (on March 24), 11 stray dogs were cached and sterilized. In the future it is planned to sterilize daily 35 dogs.<\/p>\n

Veterinary doctor Cornel Stoinescu said that in 24 hours after such surgical operations dogs will be returned to places, where they were cached.<\/p>\n

Besides the sterilization the program envisages disinsection, vaccination and registration of stray dogs, as well as the fixing of an identification ring on an ear”, Stoinescu said.<\/p>\n

Chief of the municipal health department Mihai Moldoveanu remarked that after the completion of this program the municipal authorities will set up a special service on the sterilization of stray dogs.<\/p>\n

“We shall determine a land plot, where we shall build a refuge for stray dogs, where their sterilization will be continued”, Moldovanu remarked.<\/p>\n

Representatives of the Fund and the municipality call upon Chisinau citizens to inform of places, where stray gods are accumulated to telephone number 079905068.<\/p>\n

A movable hospital is placed on the territory of the Zoological Garden of Chisinau. It is envisaged to open six movable stations, where citizens will be able to inform of conglomerations of stray dogs.<\/p>\n
