The Sudzucker Moldova has overtaken completely the advancing of the sugar beet growing in Moldova.<\/p>\n

According to the company’s administration, it was made in response to a request by other sugar producing company – the MarrSugar Moldova to conclude contracts on the sugar beet growing with agricultural enterprises and to supply a part of the raw material produced in its raw material zone for processing.<\/p>\n

In MarrSugar Moldova representative Dmitri Bass’s words, the company is not in a position to raise financial resources for the advancing of sugar beet production in the raw material zones of its two sugar refineries. Nevertheless, to provide Moldova’s food security in sugar the area under sugar beet must reach 20-22 thousand hectares.<\/p>\n

Sudzucker Moldova has already contracted and will advance sugar beet growing on an area of more than 15 thousand hectares.<\/p>\n

With support on the part of its mother concern Sudzucker AG the company will be able to allocate financial resources for the financing of technical crediting contracts on the security of sugar beet yield with agricultural producers and from MarrSugar Moldova raw material”, Sudzucker Moldova Public Relations Officer Alexandr Coss said. At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that it is possible only under conditions that the National Competition Protection Agency (NCPA) will give a positive conclusion concerning the lawfulness of actions by the sugar company and sugar beet farms and that contracts on pawning of raw materials between agricultural enterprises and MarrSugar Moldova will be annulled.<\/p>\n

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the process of annulling contracts have already begun and the Sudzucker-Moldova’s intention to overtake the financing of sugar beet growing in Moldova signifies actually the salvation of the agrarian sector of the Northwestern Moldova, for which during the last years sugar beet was the only stable high-profit culture. Under the conditions of the acute lack of financial resources on the part of agricultural producers, the total volume of extra investments, allocated by the company for these purposes can reach 80 million lei.<\/p>\n

These are the Südzucker Moldova company and the Marr Sugar Moldova company, which produce sugar in Moldova. Südzucker Moldova was set up in May 25, 2001 by means of the merger of the Drochia, Falesti and Dondiuseni sugar refineries and three years later the Alexandreni refinery joined them. From 2002 the Marr Sugar Moldovan-Russian enterprise owns the Cupcini-Cristal and Glodeni-Zahar sugar refineries. In 2008 Moldova gathered a record-breaking sugar beet yield – more than 965.2 thousand tons, whereas the yield per a hectare constituted 42.1 ton\/ha.
