The European Local Democracy Week (ELDW) will take place in Moldova between October 13 and 18. This is a European even organized yearly in the Council of Europe member states. <\/p>\n

At a news conference on October 9, Minister of Local Public Administration Valentin Guznac said that Open Door Days at mayors’ offices, public debates, opinion polls and different meetings of representatives of the local public authorities and the civil society will be held during the European Local Democracy Week in order to inform and consult the people. <\/p>\n

The purpose of the event is to foster the knowledge of local democracy and promote the idea of democratic participation at a local level. <\/p>\n

The European Local Democracy Week will be opened on October 13 by a national conference attended by members of the Government, MPs and representatives of local administrations. An envelope with ELDW symbols will be launched at the conference and sent to a number of settlements. \"\"<\/p>\n

A person from every settlement will have the possibility of taking part in the project “Mayor for a Day”. The project is implemented in Soroca, Soldanesti, Stefan-Voda, Cantemir, Criuleni, Ungheni, Drochia and other towns. <\/p>\n

A European Local Democracy lesson will be held in educational institutions on October 13. <\/p>\n
