The illegal use of budget money resulting in considerable damage will be penalty sanctioned in Moldova. This is stipulated in the draft law for the amendment of the Penal Code approved at Thursday’s meeting of the Parliament. <\/p>\n

Deputy Minister of Finance Nina Lupan said that such amendments are needed because the existent system of administrative punishments is not good enough to prevent such offences. <\/p>\n

The draft law says that the inappropriate use of budget money by public institutions is punished by fine of 300 to 500 conventional units (c.u. is equal to 20 lei) or imprisonment of 1 to 3 years, in both cases with or without the deprivation of the right to hold a certain post or carry out a certain activity for a period of up to 3 years.

\nThe same offences committed by one or more persons that caused considerable damage will be punished by fine of 500 to 700 conventional units or imprisonment of 2 to 5 years with or without the deprivation of the right to hold certain posts for 2 to 5 years. <\/p>\n

The law will provide for the punishment of the heads of budget-financed institutions and will contribute to the implementation of the state programs in compliance with the financing plans included in the state budget law.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
