A number of normative documents contain stipulations that discriminate against the population from the left bank of the Dniester. Some of them even deprive the Transdniestria residents from protection, says the study “Exercising of the Right to Movement in Moldova’s Eastern Region” carried out by the Resource and Developemnt Center “Promo-Lex”. <\/p>\n

During the presentation of the study on July 25, Pavel Postica, one of the study authors and Promo-Lex executive director, said that the Transdniestrian territory is not under the control of the constitutional authorities and the population of the region faces different problems. The observance of human rights remains an objective that is hard to be achieved. <\/p>\n

Co-author of the study Ion Manole said that the about 40,000 inhabitants of the Transdniestrian villages that are under Moldova’s control are discriminated against the other citizens of Moldova. Their right to free movement is violated as they are fined when going through the internal customs posts. <\/p>\n

According to the study, a serious problem that affects the free movement of the people living in the districts controlled by the secessionist authorities is the fact that they are forced to have Transdniestrian residence visas. This is contrary to the Constitution and to the international documents ratified by Moldova. <\/p>\n

Another problem is the payment of pensions to the Transdniestria residents. If they receive pensions from the Transdniestrian authorities they are deprived of pensions by the Moldovan authorities. Such discrimination makes the Transdniestrian population have less trust in the Moldovan constitutional authorities.\/\/REPORTER.MD <\/p>\n

Education and science employees will stage protests if their salaries are not raised
\nThe salary-earners working in education and science warn they will organize protests from August 4 if the Government does not increase their salaries. <\/p>\n

The Executive Bureau of the National Trade Union Council made a decision, demanding that the Government of Moldova raise the tariff salaries for the fist pay category in education and science to 600 lei per month as from September 1. <\/p>\n

The trade union representatives demand that all the pay categories are raised proportionally – from 900 lei a month as from January 1, 2009, in accordance with the minimum subsistence level of July 1, 2009. <\/p>\n
