The Theater Company “Ryutopia” from the Japanese town of Nigata will perform the play The Winter’s Tale by William Shakespeare at the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu” on July 26 and 27. <\/p>\n

The troupe “Ryutopia Noh Theatre Company” is the most famous “No” theater company in Japan. Noh is a classical Japanese performance form which combines elements of dance, drama, music and poetry into one highly aesthetic stage art. Largely based in the cities of Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, it is performed throughout the country by professional artists, mainly men, who have passed down the art among family members for numerous generations. <\/p>\n

The play is staged in Japanese, with subtitles in Romanian (on July 26) and in Russian (on July 27). The performance starts at 18.00. <\/p>\n

Ryutopia came to Chisinau at the invitation of “Eugen Ionesco” Theater and director Petru Vutcarau. The performance in Chisinau forms part of a broad European tour. <\/p>\n
