The Court of Appeals Chisinau canceled the decision of the Chisinau Municipal Council of April 14 by which the heating charge for the population for the 2007 – 2008 heating season was fixed at 456 lei per gigacalorie. The court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, Termocom SA, and set a charge of 540 lei per gigacalorie for the 2007-2008 heating season. <\/p>\n

According to the Chisinau City Hall, the local public authorities tried to prove that the adopted charge was a real one and covered all the expenses related to the production and transportation of heat, but the court did not take into account their arguments. <\/p>\n

Deputy mayor Mihai Furtuna said that the given decision forms part of a scheme worked out by Termocom in concert with the central authorities, who want to discredit the municipal authorities. <\/p>\n

According to Furtuna, the management of Termocom tries to obtain an additional 71 million lei from the municipal budget resulting from the difference between the tariff of 540 lei fixed by the court and the tariff of 456 lei adopted by the Chisinau Council. <\/p>\n
