The former employee of the International Republican Institute working in Moldova, Marian Bunescu, sued the institution after its administration dismissed him from the post illegally. <\/p>\n

At a news conference on July 2, Bunescu said that on June 6, he came back from leave and was announced by his boss Steve Rader that he had been fired. The employee saw no dismissal order and was not provided with any explanations. Bunescu said that his rights were violated by an organization that, as it was ascertained, had not even registered with the Ministry of Justice. <\/p>\n

Contacted by REPORTER.MD, the lawyer for Steve Rader, Constantin Tanase, said that Bunescu was not dismissed and can come to work. He also said that Bunescu’s acts look supported by persons that want to discredit the Institute. <\/p>\n

The International Republican Institute has worked in Moldova since December 2003. It obtained finance from the US Agency for International Development (USAID) for implementing a three-year program designed to strengthen the democratic political activities in Moldova.
