About 200 depositors of the bankrupt banks Intercapital and Guineea picketed the building of the Parliament on May 27, protesting against the delay in restoring their deposits. <\/p>\n

The depositors said that the administrations of the two banks cheated them, while the central bank, the law enforcement bodies and the state authorities do nothing to recuperate the deposits. <\/p>\n

Protester Nestor Samohvalov has told REPORTER.MD that the state has postponed the payment of the money for three years. Under the legislation, the money should be restored within 2 months. Samohvalov said that over 2,000 people lost their deposits. Half of these are already dead. <\/p>\n

The deceived depositors stated that since the two banks went bankrupt, the Parliament has set up three special commissions to deal with the given problem, but these did nothing but appropriated certain results achieved by the depositors. During 12 years, the depositors managed to get back about 20% of their deposits. <\/p>\n

The protesters said they will sue the Government of Moldova for not observing the law concerning the guaranteeing of the deposits made by private individuals at banks. <\/p>\n
