The state will spend about 3 million lei yearly to implement the stipulations of the law on the protection of witnesses and other participants in criminal cases. <\/p>\n

Under the draft law adopted by the Parliament on May 16, the legal case participants whose life, corporal integrity, freedom or property are in danger because they possess information that they agreed to disclose and that represents conclusive evidence providing serious, extremely serious and exceptionally serious offences will benefit from protection. <\/p>\n

The protected persons include the witnesses, injured parties, victims, suspects, the accused and offenders involved in cases under investigation or examined by the court. The imprisoned convicts that agree to give testimony about an offence and the persons that agree to provide information about planned offences will be also protected. <\/p>\n

According to statistical data, about 200 people had been protected during 2000-2007. Fifty-three persons of these benefited from protection of the house and property, 71 – from personal guard of the family, 12 – from personal guard while traveling, etc\/\/ Reporter.MD<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
