France will ask the European Union to ban the mass amnesty of the illegal immigrants as part of the joint migration policy that is to be adopted while France will hold the chairmanship of the EU. <\/p>\n

France will hold the presidency of the EU for six months as from July 1. One of its priorities will be to change the EU statute on migration, said the French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner and the Secretary of State for European Affairs Jean-Pierre Jouyet on May 13. <\/p>\n

“It is a matter of principle that all the 27 members agree to ban any mass amnesty,” Jouyet said, quoted by the media. <\/p>\n

The President of France Nicolas Sarkozy said that he is against the mass amnesty announced unilaterally by some of the EU member states, including Spain. He stressed that the open border policy of a state affects the whole European family. <\/p>\n
