The address of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) members to the population on the both Nistru riverbanks to hand in the armament and munitions illegally kept from the times of the armed conflict was accepted as a draft at the sitting on May 7. <\/p>\n

According to the JCC co-chair on behalf of Moldova, Ion Solonenco, based on this draft, during the coming sittings they are to develop a final addressing to the population about handing in the armament. At the same time, they analyzed the need to develop a mechanism for the use of the financial insurance fund from the OSCE mission with a view to motivate the population to hand in the armament voluntarily. <\/p>\n

During the meeting, the participants also focused on some issues related to the control regime in the Buffer Zone, taking into account the fact that military units of the Transnistrian side are dislocated in the Buffer Zone without a JCC decision. The Transnistrian side promised to address in the future this issue and to provide the possibility to military observers to monitor the situation at the points of dislocation of Transnistrian military units in the Buffer Zone. <\/p>\n

The need to resume the military applications of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces that stopped in 2004 constituted another issue on the agenda of the JCC meeting proposed by the Transnistrian delegation. Thus, it was decided that during two weeks the Joint Military Commandment (JMC) of the Peacekeeping Forces will develop proposals to carry out joint military applications in a normal regime. <\/p>\n

The Transnistrian delegation proposed that the JCC members carry out a periodical control of the peacekeeping posts. In the context, the JMC was entrusted with the development of proposals on this issue in two weeks.
