The survey „Press Freedom in the World\u0403h, elaborated and published by the International Organization „Freedom House\u0403h, appreciates that the press from the Republic of Moldova continues have no freedom. <\/p>\n

The press from the Republic of Moldova is not free, according to the data of „Freedom House\u0403h, for already the third year. The current survey places Moldova on the 149th place among 195 states included in the survey, together with Maldives and Pakistan. <\/p>\n

Last year, in a similar survey, Moldova was the 144th in this top, as Monitor Media Agency reminds, cited by DECA-press. <\/p>\n

The authors of the survey assert that press freedom in Moldova was in decline last year. The authorities issued some restrictions on the independent coverage of news in the period before the local elections. The two media institutions from the Public Company „Teleradioo-Moldova\u0403h were controlled by the authorities. <\/p>\n

„Freedom House\u0403h considers that the privatization of the posts „Antena C\u0403h and „Euro TV\u0403h was non-transparent, being purchased by companies close to the governing party and changed into „entertainment posts with pro-governmental news bulletins\u0403h. <\/p>\n

The self-censorship continues being widely spread in Moldova. In 2007, Moldovan police harrassed journalists and media institutions. <\/p>\n

„Freedom House\u0403h reminds that last year, the European Court of Human Rights infirmed in at least six cases the trials against journalists from Moldova.
