The lack of legislation for the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination and inefficiency of the current policies of integration of the national minorities of Moldova, are the main concerns of the UNO Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (CERD). <\/p>\n

This conclusion was presented by the UNO Committee following the examination, on February 27 – 28, 2008, of the periodical report of Moldova on the implementation of the Convention regarding the elimination of all forms of racial discrimination. <\/p>\n

Though CERD concludes some modern progresses, they mention concerns about the educational, social and religious chapters, as: the lack of access to education in the minorities’ native language, the social exclusion of Roms and the religious minorities, the lack of the civil society in the process of elaborating the official report. <\/p>\n

In this context, CERD proposed some solutions in overcoming this situation, among which to adopt a comprehensive anti-discriminatory legislation, to insure the children of the ethnical minorities to receive studies in their native language, to engage the unemployed Roms, according to Centre of Resources of Human Rights Executive Director Sergiu Ostaf. <\/p>\n
