The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources continues the evacuation abroad of useless and prohibited pesticides from Moldova in the framework of the project „Management and destruction of the stocks of persistent organic pollutants”, DECA-press Agency communicates.
\nThe manager of the project, Valetin Plesca, asserts that, at the first stage of the project, in the period of March-October, the company „Tredi” S.H.C. transported to France and destroyed at its enterprises 980 tons of electric condensers which contained toxic substances and 485 tons of out-of-use pesticides.
\n„650 tons of chemical substances from agriculture are prepared for evacuation. On February 25th, the second stage of work will start at the storage house from Tudora village, Stefan-Voda district, Plesca asserts.
\nThe project provides the evacuation and destruction of 1150 tons of pesticides from ten districts of the country, which cover nearly one third of the total quantity stored in the district storage houses.
