The preparation for the first General Agricultural Census planned for 2009 is one of the priorities in the activity of the National Bureau of Statistics (BNS) this year. Decision makers stated about this in the annual meeting of the BNS Board on Monday. <\/p>\n

Another objective of the BNS for this year is to continue the process of reform of the national statistics. To this end, the main steps will be focused on the performance of statistic research that will provide qualitative results intended to justify and assess the economic and social policies, governmental decisions and those of the economic agents, as well as to inform the society. <\/p>\n

At the same time, this year BNS intends to develop the information infrastructure by implementing modern statistics IT&C technologies and launching the electronic statistical reporting subsystem “e-Reporting”. According to the BNS report, in 2007 the number of applicants to receive statistic data was constantly growing. The number amounted to about 3,700 and exceeded by over 800 the figure reported a year before. In particular, the requests for statistic data grew from the part of the local public administration bodies. They were provided with 4270 statistic information in the form of bulletins, reports or generalized tables. <\/p>\n

During last year BNS carried out 155 statistic researches and published 49 publications with an annual or quarterly periodicity, including 3 titles on CD, 33 analytical notes, and 102 pieces of operative information. Also, they managed 3 national registers and 5 classifiers.
