The tradition to place a cross on the place a person has died in a car accident could disappear from Balti. The authorities have decided to get rid of the mortuary symbols from the side of the roads, DECA-press Agency informs.
\nThe authorities have asked the inhabitants of the town who set the crosses to disassemble them till April 1st otherwise the crosses will be disassembled by specialized workers from the municipality.
\nThe deputy mayor from Balti, Igor Neaga, explained that this decision was taken after several complaints from the inhabitants of the town had been made public on a local TV channel. „The cemetery is the place where the crosses should be set. We should not transform the roads of the town in a second cemetery,” Igor Neaga declared.
\nAsked by DECA-press Agency, His Pre-Eminence Marchel, the Bishop of Balti and Falesti, said the tradition of the people to set crosses where a person has died is tolerated by the church. The church, however, did not give its blessing to do so because the saint books tell about the cross placed on the grave and not on the place a person died.
