The number of the cancer-ill patients increased by ten per cent last year, against 2006, sources from the Ministry of Health have said. <\/p>\n

Most frequent forms of cancer among the Moldovan population are the skin and breast cancer, Oncological Institute Director Dumitru Sofroni said at the 4 February conference on the occasion of World Cancer Day. <\/p>\n

“The main cause of the increasing number of cancer-ill people is the late diagnosis of the disease. Most often, the patients call for the doctor very late, and cancer is found in the last two phases, when there is no opportunity to be treated. The most frequent causes of cancer appearance are smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, excessive sunbathing and stoutness”, Sofroni said. <\/p>\n

One of the riskiest factors that make cancer appear is smoking, namely the passive one, which more often affects the children, Deputy Minister of Health Mircea Buga has said. More than half of the world’s children inspire at home, which make the doctors in the whole world beware”, Buga said. <\/p>\n
