The institution most affected by corruption in Moldova is the police. It is followed by medicine, political parties, juridical sector and the legislative. The data are included in the Global Barometer of Corruption (BGC) 2007, realized by the American organization Gallup for Transparency International. <\/p>\n

The police in Moldova have 4.1 points of corruption degree (BGC is evaluated at a scale from one to five points, where one means no corruption, and five-extremely corrupt), medicine – 3.8 points, the political parties and juridical sector – 3.7 points, and the legislative – 3.6 points. <\/p>\n

Among other sectors affected by corruption are business\/private sector – 3.5 points, the education system – 3.3 points, the bureau of registration and authorization – 3.2 points, and the authorities collecting taxes – 3.1 points. <\/p>\n

As many as 30% of the Moldovan respondents paid bribe for services. 48% of them think the efforts of the government in fighting with corruption are inefficient, 37% – efficient and 15% – neither efficient, nor inefficient, according to BGC 2007. <\/p>\n

In the next three years the corruption will increase, 63% of the respondents say, it will be the same – 21%, and it will decrease – 16%. <\/p>\n

Moldova is on the 111-th place of 180 states covered by BGC, according to the report. According to the results of another report, made public by Transparency International-Moldova (TIM), Moldova is on the 81-th place of 163 countries on the perception of the corruption phenomenon in the public sector. <\/p>\n
