Over 11.000 children live in different orphanages of the Republic of Moldova having no families and no future. But, some of these orphans are not forgotten and abandoned. <\/p>\n

The Order of the White Greyhound (L’Ordre du Levrier Blanc) operates projects in the country to give those children hope and a chance to be employed after the age of sixteen. The Order promotes craftsmanship and is sponsoring a web-site<\/font>, offering the products of existing craftsmen. They, in return are required to offer training facilities to the orphans. According to the President of The Order, Andre de Guise, of Lorraine, France, the idea is to give the children at least some form of training, to<\/p>\n\n\n\n

help them in later life. The Order operates in eleven Orphanages under the Ministry of Education. <\/p>\n

“Since we are also committed to encouraging crafts, we have persuaded some craftsmen to supervise classes in the Homes. In return, we try to help them with marketing and advice,” De Guise said. <\/p>\n

The Order operates Project Moldova, which is being developed by Dr. N. Vandervall Coots and administered by Dr. Angela Curtean, a Moldovan family physician with the assistance of the Assembly of Moldovan Nobility. The Moldovan government is involved as well and supports their under-funded training programs, and utilizes local craftsmen as instructors. According to the Order, the goals of the project are to preserve the traditional crafts of the Moldovan people, to help the orphans of Moldova, to give them a creative outlet, a useful skill, a sense of accomplishment, and a sense of self-worth, to support the factories and workshops that produce the \"\"traditional crafts. <\/p>\n

“The Orphans have responded very positively. I though the idea might last for six months and then everyone would get bored. Not at all, there are queues to join and the Ministry has asked us to open nine more classes,” De Guise stated. <\/p>\n
