The Moldovan Health Ministry today launched a new National Health Policy (PNS) for the next 15 years. <\/p>\n

Health Minister Ion Ababii said within the event that the document sees priorities and development trends in the health sector, and sets the goals and possibilities of improving the sector the next years. <\/p>\n

The minister said that the 14 chapters of the National Health Policy refer to promoting health and preventing diseases, ensuring a healthy life style since early childhood, maintaining the young generation’s health, reinforcing the aged people’s health and controlling the contagious and non-contagious chronic diseases. <\/p>\n

The document is also designed to ensure economic and social security, create a healthy and safe environment, ensure rational nutrition, form a society free of tobacco, alcohol and drugs, as well as obtain new performances in health care, Ababii said. <\/p>\n

Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin reiterated that the National Health Policy should become an instrument of systemic approach to health issues and consolidation of inter-sector efforts to improve citizens’ life quality. <\/p>\n

\"\"The head of state said the new policy is to contribute to creating a health system able to meet the requirements of all the Moldovan citizens, regardless of their age, social status or health condition. <\/p>\n

Voronin stressed that special attention should be paid to the health condition of children, teenagers, and people with disabilities, as well as to creating the best social environment for them. And the access to medicine should not depend on the population’s material situation, the president said. <\/p>\n

Voronin said that within the National Health Policy there will be worked out strategies and concrete projects of developing this field, and the document is to be included in the medium-term National Development Plan. <\/p>\n
