The Ungheni Town Prosecutor Office has brought criminal action on charges of ignoring the basic rules and methods of rendering medical help, which has lead to the death of a patient aged 28. <\/p>\n

On 4 November 2006, the patient, Alla Hamirweac of the Romanovca Village (Ungheni raion) gave birth to a child at the Ungheni Raion Hospital. As the delivery was accompanied with serious complications, the baby had to be urgently transported to the National Mother and Child Health Center in Chisinau. However, the ambulance crew refused to take the young mother to the vehicle, saying there was no room for her on board. <\/p>\n

Mrs. Hamureac, who had just suffered a very hard, exhausting delivery, had to travel to the capital city by halting a passing car on the highway. But even when she eventually reached Chisinau, nobody gave her a particular attention or medical help at the Center. <\/p>\n

The staff began really running only when the woman fainted in the corridor. Even in the resuscitation department, doctors failed to bring her bak to consciousness. Moreover, she lapsed into a coma. Forty days later, she was brought back to the Ungheni Hospital in the state of a coma, and a week later she died there. <\/p>\n
