The Romanian Consulate in Chisinau prolonged as of Monday its working hours to meet the great number of visa applications submitted by Moldovan citizens who want to travel to Romania. <\/p>\n

Asked by BASA-press, First Secretary of the Romanian Embassy, Florin Lencu, communicated that they will work in two shifts, from 9.00 to 22.00 daily, including Saturday and Sunday. Visa applications will be accepted between 9.00 and 15.00; the rest of the time shall be used to issue visas and work with economic units. The end of the week is reserved to issues of Consulate’s responsibility. <\/p>\n

\"\"Lencu reiterated the fact that priority in processing applications is given to the applications of students and schoolchildren studying in Romania; these applications are accepted by the Consulate employees even if the applicants hadn’t registered online beforehand. <\/p>\n

The on-line registration system for getting the Romanian visa, launched in mid-December 2006, is overloaded and does not permit registration of other applicants until January 18. Earlier, Romanian Ministry of the Exterior assured that as of January 1, 2007, the processing capacity of the Consulate is of 300 visa applications per day; he said that depending on the number of applications, the existent staff will be supplemented.
