Moldovan citizens choose to work in Romania after Romanian employers have started signing contracts in this regard with the Bucharest Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and the Romanian Consulate in Chisinau, according to the Romanian newspaper Ziarul. <\/p>\n

Cristian Roman, prefect of Botosani, has stated to Ziarul that the county is almost empty because residents have left it and work in Italy and Spain. "Private firms employ hundreds of people from Moldova because they work faster and the most important is that they demand lower salaries," the Botosani prefect added. <\/p>\n

The Romanian Office for Migration of Labour Force said that foreigners working in Romania must get registered within 30 days after they start their activity. <\/p>\n

Contacted by BASA, Arcadie Josan of the National Employment Agency in Chisinau said that the agency lacks data on the number of Moldovans working in Romania legally. "They will be known at the end of this year," Josan promised. <\/p>\n
