About 50 Moldovan economic agents staged their products within the fifth issue of the National Wine Holiday, inaugurated this morning on the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau. <\/p>\n

Participating in the event, Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin said that Moldova was and is the Wine’s country. Even when the export will consist mainly of high-tech intensive scientific products, Moldova will be the Wine’s country, as in the modern epoch the wine is being transformed into one of the most delicate liquor of the human intelligence. <\/p>\n

Moldova has reaffirmed for centuries its devotion to the vine, by building the first monument to the vine in the world. And this monument will be built in Moldova, the president said. <\/p>\n

The director of the Moldvoa-Vin Agroindustrial Agency, Valeriu Mironescu, said that the vine-growing and the wine-making branch ensures one quarter of the agroindustrial production and one third of the total of Moldovan export. The Moldovan alcoholic drinks’ export has been one the rise over the last years. <\/p>\n

\"\"Moldova exported wine production of 274 million dollars in 2004, 325 million dollars in 2005, and 130 million dollars in the first eight months of 2006. Moldova exported on the western markets production worth 23 million dollars in 2006, 3.4-fold more against 2005. <\/p>\n

As many as 14,000 hectares of vineyards were planed in Moldova over the last years, using the best quality grafted vines. About 150 million lei (about 10 million dollars) were paid from the state fund to support the viticulture. <\/p>\n

The wine-makers’ hymn was heard, in premiere, at the inaugural ceremony of the holiday, which will become the symbol of the National Wine Holiday, written by composer Valentin Dinga and poet Anatol Ciocanu. <\/p>\n
