The students of a number of the metropolitan higher educational institutions are ready to stage a strike on February 20, if their demands concerning the payment of their stipends and the revision of the dormitory rent are not satisfied. Last week they sent the appropriate warning letter to the All-Moldovan Federation of Trade Unions, INTERLIK News agency reports. As the representatives of the AMFTU communicated to its reporter, taking into consideration that the students’ parents have not received their salaries and pensions for years and the students – their stipends from last September, they are on the rocks without means of sustenance and they badly need financial assistance. For example the dormitory rent per person has recently soared tenfold and it accounts currently for 104 lei a month. <\/p>\n

In the opinion of the trade union leaders, if the representatives of the Ministries of Education and Science, Economy and Reforms do not response on time, do not begin talks with the leaders of their trade unions and do not urgently consider their demands in order to provide for the payment of a monthly stipend at least, it will be very hard to make the student resume their studies, INTERLIK News agency reports.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
